Batch 46
La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 46 has matured for 3 years in red wine barrels from the French Gaillac region. This region is a very old AOC area, known for its strong red wines.
When pouring the beer, the dark amber-like color is immediately noticeable, much darker and also cloudier than the normal Quadrupel. The beer has a subtle velvety head, with very small carbon dioxide bubbles.
In the scent are powerful aromas of vanilla, dried dark fruit and are immediately noticeable. This batch is characterized by the very long maturation in red wine barriques. During this time, the beer has become very rounded and soft, with the bitterness greatly reduced.
The taste is slightly sweet, fresh and mild, with fine CO2 bubbles that tickle the tongue. Very refined, warm and perfectly balanced!
When the beer warms up, smells of dried dates, figs, dried red fruit, raisins and walnuts become perceptible. The tannins from the wood come out more in the taste.
La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 46 is characterized as a refined tasting beer. A perfect marriage between La Trappe Quadrupel, red wine and oak. The optimal serving temperature of this beer is around 16 and 18°C, at this temperature the beer comes into its own.
Batch 46 was blended in October 2022.
