The Empress

This beer is the barrel aged version of 'The Emperor', one of the most syrupy beers we've ever produced, it's super silky smooth with a smooth full body. This dark barleywine then matured for another 15 months in a blend of scotch whiskey and bourbon casks. The soft aromas of syrup, toffee and fruit cake remain from the original, but are now accompanied by warming notes of spirit. The palate opens with an initial hint of sweetness, light caramel and stewed fruit that develops into raisins, figs and honey, backed by a sweet bourbon hit. A soft carbon dioxide supports the complexity of the beer. A totally decadent beer best shared with good friends.
